Are you a Conservative?

Wow, I wish I was as patriotic as one of these mythical ‘Conservatives’.  Fills my mind with visions of eagles, flapping flags, saluting children, trailer parks, people in Wal-Mart on scooters that are too fat to walk (but not to shop), illiteracy, incest, gun nuts, evangelical wackos and white-collar crimes (and the list goes on).

So are you a Conservative?  Well, if you were a conservative in 1980, probably not.  Conservatism used to be about personal responsibility, low taxes and limited government back in the day.  This was a logical reaction to what was seen as liberal excesses of the 60s and 70s – in short, something based on reality.

What does conservatism mean today?  Something totally different – even though they advertise the same beliefs.  How do we know – very simple, their actions.  Bush’s skyrocketing debt, unpaid for wars, their interest in what goes on in your bedroom, a willingness to look the other way when rich people play by different rules – what more evidence do you need.  Yes, Reagan conservatism is truly dead – unless of course you are willing to vote for Democrats…lol

Conservatism today is more of a cult that a political movement.  You can be a member of this cult if you:

• blame minorities, women, gays or these mythical creature called ‘liberals’ for the woes in you life;
• envy of the working poor because they don’t pay Federal Income taxes (basically because they don’t have any money);
• are pissed off about having to pay for this huge dependency class (despite that fact that it does not exist – 90% of the 47% are either elderly, active duty, children or handicapped);
• are willing to look the other way when rich people play by a different set of rules, because they are reserving a place at the table for you (even though this will never happen);
• are ok with ‘shadow money’ and ‘undisclosed donors’ controlling politics because it furthers your goals;
• don’t see that Fox News and right-wing media is making money hand-over-fist from you, not because they actually believe what they are saying, but because they are milking your insecurities, fears and low self-esteem issues for profit.

Below are a few ‘contradictions’ that came to mind.  Please let me know if you have any more.

Personal Responsibility

Except in the cases of:

• having to have medical insurance so we all don’t have to pick up the ER bill
• accountability for the white collar crimes that crashed our economy and took 25% of the value off of your home
• shadow groups with secret donors funding right-wing political campaigns
• requiring background check for gun purchases to make sure they are not being purchased by people who are ‘terrorists’

Low Taxes

Even though taxes under Obama’s first 4 years were lower than taxes under any Republican administration in the past half-century, they do not shower him with praise.

Except for the ‘Working Poor’ who they now feel as if they don’t pay enough taxes even though it was the Bush Tax Cuts that exempted the majority of them from having to pay federal income taxes (you following this?)….cue the banjos….

Limited Government

Except in cases of:

• Marriage
• Reproductive Rights
• Lady Parts
• What consenting adults do in their bedrooms
• Rape
• Contraception
• Freedom of Religion
• Equal pay for women
• Religion
• Blood tests for entitlements

Republican Group Sends E-Mail Claiming Sandy Hook Shooting Didn’t Happen

Have you received this mass email from voice@freedom.com with the title “Sandy Hook Shooting Didn’t Happen”?  Looks like the right-wing is trying to emulate Obama’s successful use of social media and email, but of course for the purposes of evil instead of good.

The email body is below.  It is another wacko conspiracy theory about how the government want to take your guns.  You know, to try to prevent against the thing that didn’t happen in Obama’s first term.  America is a free nation, which means you can be as ignorant as you want to be I guess – but it does not make it any less embarrassing.

Excerpt from Muad’Dib’s January 7th, 2013 Critical Mass Radio interview:

…They used a poster child for this to get everybody’s sympathy and to get everybody’s emotions up so that they could hopefully bring in a gun ban. They used a little poster child, a little blonde-haired blue-eyed six year old girl. She was the face, the poster child. She was supposedly killed along with the other 19 six year olds and seven year olds at Sandy Hook. Three days later Obama was there doing a photo op and she’s sitting on his knee. She’s supposed to be dead, used as a poster child, this little girl died – she’s sitting on Obama’s knee three days later. The same little girl.

And then they have her parents interviewed. It shows that they’re all actors. It never really happened, because the guy that was supposedly her dad, is shown in the video where he’s to the side and he’s laughing and joking with other people and then he’s called up in front of the camera. He’s off to the left. Then he’s called to the center, to the focus of the camera to be interviewed and to give his speech about Sandy Hook and about his daughter. And he goes from on the side from laughing and joking with everybody, he comes up to the center and … he takes the joking, smiling face off and you can see him physically trying to force his face to look sad and then he starts talking about how his daughter’s been killed. They’re actors. There were no bodies.

It was a made for TV drama to try to ram through the gun control laws, because they want to kill the American people and they can’t kill armed people. That’s why Hitler disarmed the Germans, it’s why Stalin disarmed the Russians, it’s why chairman Mao disarmed the Chinese and they killed between them something like 120 million of their own people. And that’s what they want to do in America and they can’t do it because the people have the Second Amendment and they have guns. So they have to do all of this, and they’ll keep doing it. There will be more incidents like this, which are made for television, until they manage to persuade the American people to give up their guns. And then they’ll start killing the Americans. Because the Americans are the only people stopping them from doing what they want to do already. They know they can’t put their next phase, which is reducing the world’s population, they can’t put that phase into operation whilst the Americans have got millions
of guns.

Move over Birthers – Here come the “3-Termers”

Now that the fringe right has lost the election, how can they use their time in a  productive manner?  Encourage their elected officials to begin to cooperate across party-line for the benefit of the country?  End the senseless obstructionism? Scorn those who make a fool of themselves and their entire movement by clinging to the conspiracy theories (Obama is a Muslim, Birtherism, etc. etc.).  Nope, lets create some more fear based on fantasy – Obama’s 3rd Term!!

On Friday Americans learned about H.J.Res. 15. H.J.Res 15 proposes an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the Twenty-second Amendment. This would remove the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President. Rep. José Serrano (D- NY15) introduced the controversial joint resolution on Friday, the second day of the 2013 legislative session.

Congress passed the Twenty-second Amendment on March 21, 1947. The required number of states ratified it in 1951. There have been numerous attempts to repeal the Twenty-second Amendment, including a previous attempt by Rep. José Serrano. Rep. Serrano attempted to repeal the Twenty-second Amendment with H.J.Res. 5 in 2009.

Will it happen? No, of course not.  So, therefore it should not be an issue, at least for any serious news organization or press.  However for the fringe, it is a perfect issue to stir up some good old-fashioned paranoia.  And this time, they didn’t even have to make it up

 

This One Simple Chart Disproves the Entire NRA Argument on Gun Violence

CHILDREN IN THE UK AND NEW ZEALAND WATCH HOLLYWOOD MOVIES AND PLAY VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES TOO – THAT ARGUMENT NEEDS TO BE EXPOSED AS COMPLETE BS

For the mathematically challenged – the United States had 668 times more deaths by firearms than the United Kingdom.  Not twice as many or three times as mant —-> 668 times as many.

The NRA has claimed the ‘video games’ and ‘hollywood films’ are to blame for America’s out of control gun violence.  Well, Canada, Australia, Denmark, UK, Ireland and New Zealand all have violent video games and they all watch the same hollywood movies.  As if their moronic assertion even needed a response, please find it above.

Are you willing to live in a country where your children have to go to school with armed guards just so some gun company can build and sell more guns?  This has absolutely nothing to do with the Second Amendment and it would be nice if the paying members of the NRA would pull their heads out of their asses long enough to realize that the greatest threat TO the Second Amendment is the NRA.

Gun Advocates Flood Facebook with Pro-Gun Propaganda in Wake of Newtown Massacre

Nothing like a human tragedy and unspeakable suffering to being out the bottom-feeders in society. I awoke this morning to a wave of Pro Gun garbage on Facebook. While I would hope there were so many in my feed due to the fact that I unfortunately went to a redneck hight school, I suspect this sickness goes much wider.
